In 2016, Carlos Torres Burbano and Angela Patiño Findlay started Toldopamba Coffee to help smallholder coffee producers improve the quality of their coffee, implement more sustainable agricultural practices, and access premiums from markets that value both. The business is run out of Carlos’ mother’s farm in Santa Maria, Colombia, giving them especially close ties to producers in this small community.

In 2021, producers in Santa Maria used a Counter Culture Seeds grant to establish an all-female beekeeping production group. These apiaries improve plant production and generate income for the women through the sales of honey. We taste sweet notes of red grape, caramel, and nut in this offering.
